How do I use this in my classroom?
I print on white cardstock, laminate, cut out and add Velcro. During center time or during “free” time, these sorting mats are readily available for students to work on. Depending on ability level, I give the student 2-4 alphabet mats to work on at once.
How do I differentiate these sorting mats?
Based on the student’s ability level, you can use different sorting pieces on the mat. Use the clip art pieces to sort by beginning letter or sound. Use the words to sort by beginning letter or sound. Use the upper and lowercase letters to sort by letter. Or mix and match the pieces to have students sort pieces in multiple ways.
